This 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is finished in rare Porsche White Gold Metallic (paint code L539) over a full brown leather interior. Showing 99,802 miles, it remains remarkably original in both appearance and feel, while featuring a thoughtful selection of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades that subtly enhance the driving experience without compromising authenticity. With a well-documented service history dating from 1990 to the present, this example reflects long-term, Porsche enthusiast ownership by Porsche Club of America (PCA) members. Offered with an extensive service history, available for email review upon request. I've owned the car for the past five years, with the previous owner having cared for it over a 12-year span. Having spent the majority of its life in the southern states and been enthusiastically cared for, this example has been garage-kept and driven exclusively in fair, dry weather. As a result, it has never seen winter roads and remains in exceptional condition, with a rust-free underbody and a remarkably well-preserved interior and exterior, especially impressive given its age.
Under the rear decklid sits Porsche’s renowned 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six engine, paired with the classic 915 5-speed manual transaxle. It drives and shifts exceptionally well, a testament to how well the car has been maintained over the years. The gearbox performs notably well for a 915, aided by service to the shift tunnel bushings and coupler. From the factory, this 911 was optioned with shorter shift travel (code 241) central locking system (341), forged light-metal Fuchs wheels (395), full power comfort seats (438), and automatic speed control (454), Porsche’s cruise control system, which remains in proper working order. Notable performance upgrades include a 911 SW performance chip, M&K Stainless Steel Pre-Muffler/Cat Bypass and a Fabspeed Maxflow performance exhaust, which delivers a deeper, more aggressive tone under throttle while improving engine responsiveness. Additional enhancements, such as Rebel Racing spring plates, a Rebel Racing front brace bar, upgraded Turbo tie rods, and Wevo engine mounts, sharpen handling and contribute to a more composed and connected driving experience. This Carrera Targa stands as a clean, well-preserved, and well-sorted example of the iconic G-body generation, ready to be driven and enjoyed immediately. The 915 transmission shifts confidently, and the suspension setup offers responsive handling without sacrificing road comfort. It’s dialed in and ready to drive.
While the larger original factory A/C components have been removed, all associated parts, including the air conditioning unit, condenser, compressor, belt, and hardware, are included with the sale. Reinstallation can be performed by the next owner or arranged through us upon request to re-install. All original A/C lines remain in place. As a Targa, I primarily enjoyed driving with the roof off, making air conditioning largely unnecessary and, in my opinion, offering a modest weight savings. Additional original parts such as the steering wheel, rear light lens, and color-coded headlight surrounds are also included in the sale (all pictured). All electrical and mechanical components function as they should, including the power seats, electric windows, heater exchangers, blower fan, lights, gauges, clock, horn, and wipers etc. Included in the sale is a comprehensive and meticulously organized set of documentation, featuring the original owner’s manual, manual binders, a complete binder of service history and maintenance records, a dealer service folder with stamped entries, and three sets of keys (as pictured).
