1991 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 CREWCAB LHD

image56

"PANTHER" DEFENDER 110 CREWCAB - LHD - 200TDI

This premium, distinct, and tough-as-nails Defender 110 in rare crewcab configuration perfectly combines the go-anywhere 4x4 image but does it in style, with great features, diesel power and luxury interior. So this one is ready to break necks down the street or on the trails. A truly stunning restored Defender 110 Crewcab (double-cab) finished in Land Rover Santorini Black. This is a Left hand drive French Defender that has undergone an extensive restoration. Its chassis (frame) was completely sand blasted and powder coated so it’s completely rust free and purpose built to last. This Defender had a complete panel off re-spray and interior refurbishment. The body panels where all removed from the frame prior to a repaint. All bodywork removed excluding bulkhead, front wings, engine & gearbox. From the ground up all parts, bolts, wheel bearings, brakes, rotors, bushings etc have been replaced. It has kept its original 200tdi engine and 5-speed manual transmission, which has been fully serviced and all fluids, seals, gaskets, cambelt etc.

The original 200Tdi starts right up, and has a very healthy idle. It pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission that's optimally geared for the power plant’s output, with the lever to engage the surefootedness of four wheel drive within very easy reach of the driver. The overall driving experience this Land Rover offers is very impressive, It drives and feels very solid and tight on the out on the road. It’s running great and drives with a smoothness you likely wouldn't expect from a ride featuring its 18" alloy wheels and all terrain tires. Power discs brakes up front will bring it to a stop in short order and its power steering is light but responsive for easy navigating, with the wooden steering wheel providing a classic and elegant touch of class. Not surprising, considering the attentive care it's received, the undercarriage on this is outstanding and appears solid and straight. This is the legendary 4x4 that knows how to make the scene even without showcasing its fearless prowess. So don't let something this charismatic slip away. Overall it has a great stance and commands any road it goes down, it breaks necks wherever it goes. It’s a showstopper of a Defender 110.

1981 LAND ROVER SERIES III

image62

"MARTINI" SERIES III - 2.25 GAS

We love a good classic Land Rover because it has a soul and its an old truck with a tire on the hood. Not only that but also because it looks like it's ready for an adventure no matter if it's climbed to the top of a mountain, along the beach, through the jungle or on Safari, or just parked in the driveway, this 1981 Land Rover Series III can do it all. We are delighted to present for sale this handsome series III refurbished to James Bond Spec, those of you that know that the new Bond movie ‘No Time to Die’ premiers in November 2020. Early clips released from the film and shoots show James Bond in non other than a Marine blue Land Rover Series III. Production on the 25th James Bond movie kicked off, and the first set photos from Jamaica show Daniel Craig’s, retired James Bond driving around in an old and trusty Land Rover Series III. The first look show Bond driving an open-top Series III Land Rover down the streets of Jamaica. With Jaguar Land Rover having been heavly involved in the 007 enterprises since the mid-80s, it's no surprise to see a return in the new film with this classic Series III.

This Series III is a 4x4 worthy of its go-anywhere heritage, it looks great on the road too. The Series III like this is an unmistakable part of that lineage. No matter if it's a Rolls Royce, Jaguar or a Land Rover, everyone always loves the look of a British car in right-hand drive. So you'll love the looks you get when getting out of the "right" side. This one looks ready for adventure at a moment's notice with the hood-mounted spare wheel, removable half doors and fold down windscreen. And the rope draped across the entire front end has the kind of thick cord that can get anyone out of trouble or create a game of tug of war. It's all finished in a vintage Land Rover, in classic Marine Blue. It's accented with a Limestone roof and matching steel wheels to finished of the classic look. That's what makes this 1981 Land Rover Series III so appealing. It stands out for the way it retains the look of a true explorer, right down to the details. Owning a classic 4x4 like this means getting the style just right. It carries the iconic Land Rover Series look thanks to a wearing correct-style color combo. This one is clean, sharp, and absolutely rugged.

It has a classic feel with the thin, robust steering wheel, tall gearstick, retro gauges, extra levels and proper red and yellow levers for four-wheel drive/low high range and free wheeling hubs. You can sit three across up front in individual-style seats. There are some extras, like proper three-point seatbelts and an AM/FM/CD stereo and rear bench seats. The rear compartment will accommodate several passengers or a ton of cargo, complete with two rear bench seats. Its looks highly original, it also received the right maintenance, including receipts within the last year for basic servicing, tune up, carburetor and transmission. The interior is pure substance over style, combining the Land Rover's utility and purposeful look with a few useful amenities to make it manageable in the modern world. The accommodations are bare because luxury was a luxury you couldn't afford in the middle of nowhere. Reliability was paramount and as a result, the interiors were made of durable, easy-to-maintain materials that would wear like iron. All the necessities are there, including comfortable seats and a full array of instruments that are as close to basic as you're going to find. It's simple and was built to have a no-nonsense approach. Even the awesome hard roof remains in great shape, and you'll love the added protection it provides. With the classic removable half doors and fold down windscreen you can turn this ole girl into the ultimate open top cruiser in no time. Complete with the very rare factory rear lift tailgate option, which makes converting to a soft top or completely topless nice and effortlessly.

The 2.25-liter motor is part of the robust tradition of durable Land Rover power. And this one shows the right signs of good investment in keeping it looking stock and well maintained. It's also relatively efficient and easy to service under all conditions. This truck shows just 71,159 original miles. Even the undercarriage photos prove this is a clean 4x4 that has been taken care of properly. So you have a strong-running package that upholds the tradition of the hearty Land Rover Series vehicles. The four-speed manual gearbox shifts smoothly as it gives you complete control over the motor, plus with Fairy overdrive you can cruise comfortably. These have an awesome look and feel right down to solid sound of the doors closing. You know it's time to fall in love with a well-done classic Land Rover. The manual is easy to use, and the 4-wheel-drive system is arguably the worlds best. All the original equipment remains intact to give you the genuine experience. The result is a traditional-looking off-roader or urban cruiser that works like a real vehicle in today's world. Seen in the backgrounds all over the world for decades, the Land Rover is one of the most famous vehicles on Earth. The build quality is very good of course, giving it a rugged, purposeful look that looks indestructible. This is the legendary 4x4 that has all the right moves to back up its tough appearance. So if you want to go everywhere and look great doing it this is the classic “No Time Too Die” James Bond Series III. If you're looking for something a little bit different, with some forthcoming Hollywood charm and movie stardom this Series will prove to be the perfect vehicle.

THE LAND ROVER SERIES III – A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The Land Rover Series 3 was introduced in 1971 and was pretty much a “face-lifted” version of the Series 2 and 2a. Most parts are interchangeable between the 2a and the 3. The Series 3 (commonly referred to as the Series III) featured a few mechanical improvements over the Series 2a. It had the fully synchromesh four speed gearbox that had been fitted to late model Series 2a, the headlights were mounted on the front of the fenders/wings, and the front metal grille was replaced by a stylish looking plastic one. The bonnet/hood of the Series 3 was re-styled with a rounded front edge and recessed spare wheel, which both looked good and turned out to be practical. The interior of the Land Rover Series III was distinctly different in appearance. The plain metal, easy to maintain, central dashboard of the Series 2 and 2a was replaced with a modern looking plastic one, which re-located the instruments directly in front of the driver. This was actually a very practical change as the instruments are easily visible and the whole dashboard gave the vehicle a rather more up-market look.

In the electrical department the old style Lucas generator was replaced with an alternator providing much better electrical performance, and reliability. The old Lucas generators (dynamo) of the earlier Land Rovers had a poor reputation for reliability, the end bearing being a common weakness that would chew out and cause the generator to fail. This and similar problems led to Lucas being wryly referred to as “the prince of darkness”. So the new electrical system with a nice new Lucas alternator was a welcome improvement. Production of the Land Rover Series 3 began in 1971 and ended in 1985, and about mid-way through the Series 3’s production, in 1976, the 1,000,000 Land Rover rolled off the production line at Solihull. The end of production of the Series 3 in 1985 marked the end of production of the Land Rovers most directly descended from Maurice Wilks’ original sketch in the sand at the beach in Anglesey. The Series 3 was the final refinement of that original and classic design and they have proved to be an excellent and now iconic vehicle.

Includes all historical documents, original build sheet, purchase order and service history from the day it was born back in 1981. All complete with service history documents, invoices and maintenance. Even includes the original invoice from Leyland Trucks and Land Rover from back in 1981. When we mean complete, we mean complete, with every single service record down to exact mile and date for the vehicle from 1981. Thats over 39 years of historical documents, which is some truly phenomenal record keeping by all its previous owners.

1977 LAND ROVER 101 FORWARD CONTROL

image71

"BLITZ-KRIEG" 101 FC

Here we have the privilege to offer this 1977 Land Rover 101 Forward Control vehicle for sale on consignment for a Local Land Rover collector and enthusiast. Unfortunately the time has come for our client to thin his heard of Land Rovers, and fortunately for you this one is ready for a new adventure to be had. So we are delighted to present for sale this fine 101, in the best possible configuration; 12 volt, right hand drive, 3.5 V8 and soft-top. Between 1975 and 1978, Land Rover built 2669 examples of the 101 Forward Control truck for the British Ministry of Defense. Powered by a 3.5-liter Rover V-8, the 101 has four-wheel drive, a vacuum-operated differential lock, 12 and 24-volt electric systems, and enough towing capacity for artillery cannons When the British replaced their 101 fleet with Defender-based Land Rover Wolfs and Pinzgauers, private citizens made sure to save as many 101s as they could. This 101 was stationed in Germany and serviced in the British Army before being released from service and imported to NC by its now current own. Once onboard, the seating position feels weird at first, mostly because the steering column is almost vertical and the four-speed gearbox is tilted forwards, so the shifter is pointing straight ahead instead of upwards. Other than that, it’s as simple as it gets, all you need to remember is to steer later because you're sitting on top of the front wheels instead of behind them. Despite its size and appearance the military-spec tires, the 101 feels just as light on its feet as any old Land Rover. It might be made of slightly thicker metal all around, but that 3.5 V-8 has more than enough torque to get it through an obstacle. If you pull the magic switch after you already pushed the red lever forward to get into low ratio, a light on the dash informs you that the inter-axle differential is locked. That makes your job even easier, but with a minimum ground clearance of 10 inches at the axles and super short overhangs at both ends, there's no chance of getting into trouble. Power comes from the venerable Rover 3.5-liter V8 in a cab-over-engine arrangement. It runs through a four-speed manual (LT95 gearbox) and a two-speed transfer case to a full-time four-wheel-drive system. Other than new seats this rig still has a very mil-spec appearance in the cabin, and in the rear there is 4 individual seats with lap belt.

The original 3.5l V8 gas engine comes with overdrive, High Ratio Gears, Parabolic Springs. This vehicle is in excellent condition as shown by the photos. Many period correct features survive including front mounted pioneer tool kit, expedition jerry cans, front and rear NATO hitches, fire extinguishers, front and rear Nokken Winch combine to make this a great example of the Land Rover 101. The interior is also in great condition with added luxury of radio/cd player. A high ratio gearbox & overdrive gears really make for a great driving experience. The original petrol V8 starts on the first turn of the key and leads to a free revving V8 rumble. It really does drive well and cruises nicely on any road. Odometer shows 45,xxxkm, which is around 28k miles. Out on the road this 101 does not disappoint – the silky smooth V8 gives a seamless, powerful drive and a very good turn of speed. The combination of a whisper quiet, free revving V8 mated to the high ratio gearbox and overdrive equates to a superb driving experience for such a big brute, this vehicle really flies and is an utter joy to drive. It really does sound great too, and fires up with the first turn of the key. If you are looking for a really nice 101 in the most popular spec then this is certainly worth considering. The bodywork is in great shape; the tires are new Ironman Mud Terrains and are all recently fitted and in great condition. There has been a recent service invoice for $4,600+. Most recent service items included a check up of fuel and ignition systems, a complete brake overhaul with new brake shoes, drums, backing plates, front and rear hub seals, wheels cylinders and a complete system bleed. Front sway bar bushings where replaced. A full fluid drain and fill front and rear diff fluid, gearbox, T-case, swivel housing and all universals joints greased. The canvas top is in a good condition and holds down tight and can be rolled up. This 101 served most of its time in British Army and like most ex-military vehicles they where serviced and maintained to military precision. If you are looking for a classic Land Rover with lots of TLC carried out then this is a fine example. With the rarity of these vehicles increasing, especially original V8 101's it should prove to be a sound investment.

Interesting 101 Fun Facts

Thirty-one 101s were converted by Land Rover with artistically styled body shells for the 1995 Sylvester Stallone film Judge Dredd. So Land Rover is supposedly the world’s only surviving vehicle manufacturer in the year 2139 when the film is set, and the green oval logo can be seen on the side of the vehicles, known as “City Cabs”. Several of these prop vehicles still exist in drivable condition and are often seen at Land Rover events.

The vehicle was primarily produced to meet the Army’s requirement for a gun tractor, and was designed to tow a field gun (the L118 Light Gun) with a ton of ammunition and other equipment in the rear load space, giving it the alternative name of the Land Rover One Tone. The vehicle was designed to be easily transported by air; the positioning of the 3.5 Rover V8 engine beneath and to the rear of the cab eliminates the bonnet at the front, making the vehicle more or less cuboid thus reducing unused space in transport aircraft. Of concern was the payload and limited stability, particularly when crossing an incline.

The official name of 101 Forward Control is derived from the vehicle’s 101-inch (2,565 mm) wheelbase, and the position of the driver, above and slightly in front of the front wheels which used a fairly large 9.00 × 16 inch tire. By the late 1990s, the 101s were decommissioned by the Ministry of Defense (MOD) and were replaced with Defenders and Pinzgauer vehicles. Many 101s have entered into private ownership and there is a thriving owners club supporting these sourcing spares and providing technical support.
