1992 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90

image293

"HERITAGE" DEFENDER 90 SOFT TOP

A beautifully restored Heritage style Defender 90 finished in Land Rover Eastnor green with a Khaki soft top. This stunning Defender has undergone an extensive restoration and now sits on a brand new chassis (frame) which is completely rust free and much lighter. This Defender had a complete panel off respray and interior refurbishment. The body was removed from the frame prior to a repaint. The pictures will show how much time and effort has gone into this stunning show stopping Defender.

Engine & Running gear

Factory 200Tdi engine with only 95k miles. This D90 has a remanufactured Gold Seal engine that has had a complete service including new timing belt, guides, tensioner, along with a coolant and oil flush prior to refilling prior to export. Gearbox and transfer box have been drained, inspected and new manufacturer spec fluids added.

What’s a Gold Seal engine?

Its a term used where a specific engine over hauler (Unipart) takes a production engine and builds it from new in a superior manner with upgraded components but not necessarily a higher state of tune (in terms of power output) - it's a quality piece built to run more smoothly and last longer than a standard engine off the production line and was painted gold.  The engine is remanufactured and new parts where possible replaced, new crank, new cam new pistons, all new shells, cam followers and rocker shaft.  The block and head are kept. Gold seal engines can be find in Morris Minors and Minis and other BMC cars of that era and was an option on a new car purchase. It's generally accepted that they were built up with a little more care. People who have driven the Unipart engines all seem to agree that they were spot on and driver superbly well. Unipart brands are well known for their rebuilt engines and gearboxes. The good thing about a remanufactured engine is that the casting is stress-relieved in it's first life so is far more stable in it's second life. They are always very well built engines and to all intents as good as new and if not better.

Exterior & Interior

Prior to painting all body panels removed, all underside grime, road film and contaminants cleaned. New doors and tail gate including hinges.  New hinges and stainless hardware, new door rubbers and windshield rubber installed. New galvanized hoop set, new khaki green canvas tilt. All engine components and sound deadening were left in place, all external surfaces were professionally prepped and painted. All dash board components were removed, inspected and thoroughly cleaned before reinstallation. Both front seats have been completely refurbed with new foam and covers from Exmoor trim. There is also a new Exmoor trim central cubby box.

Electrics & Interior

Wiring loom was thoroughly inspected prior to installation of a
complete LED light kit. New LED halo headlights and fixing. DRL halos are switched on via rocker switch on right of center “Defender” panel. The white halo flashes amber along with indicators when indicating left or right and hazard warning. New wiper arms and blades. Bluetooth sound system with behind seat speaker pods. New Exmoor trim central cubby box. 2 brand new fold up rear benches.

1991 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER CLASSIC

image465

"McQUEEN" RANGE ROVER CLASSIC

The Land Rover Range Rover Classic revolutionized the auto industry in the 1970’s with the launch of the Range Rover. No one had ever before seen such an outstanding 4x4 vehicle. Style, comfort, speed, outstanding off road as well as on road ride to the highest level and was so ahead of its time so it stayed in production for 25 years, almost unchanged to its original principles. During its lifespan the Range Rover Classic developed from a luxury Land Rover for the farmer to a high-tech powerhouse in the SUV market. The Range Rover is generally regarded as the world’s first truly luxurious SUV. If you’re looking for a simple, classic design that’s aged tastefully – a two-door is absolutely beautiful and timeless. A Range Rover Classic is one of the nicest and most useful vintage automobiles out there, and many in the vintage and classic car world have pegged the two door Range Rover Classic to be serious investment vehicles.

Here is a great example of a 2 door Range Rover Classic, a true time capsule. It has spent all its life in sunny Lyon in the south of France before bing imported. Its covered only 106km, which is  66,000 original miles, which is very low. Packing the efficient 2.5 Liter VM Turbo Diesel engine which was designed and built by OEM supplier VM Motori of Italy. This Range Rover has more than enough grunt and power to feel very comfortable around town and on the highway. Its surprisingly quite zippy compared to the other Land Rover power plants. You can cruise comfortably at and above highway speeds without compromising comfort with great gas mileage. The interior is clean and very original, the tan/brown cloth interior presents beautifully. The two-door body style turns heads wherever it goes and is a true classic.

"MONTY" LAND ROVER 110

We have the privilege of offering this classic 1988 Land Rover 110 V8 County Station Wagon with a 5-speed manual up for sale. This is a factory V8 engine with LT85 gearbox. Affectionately named “Monty”, this 110 is finished in Land Rover Chamonix white. Its very clean inside and generally in original and in unmodified condition. The 110 (technically pre-Defender before 1990) starts easily and runs very smoothly. It’s in good solid condition including chassis, outriggers, rear-cross member, bulkhead, floors and panels. The frame is complete and has no previous welding. The engine sounds lovely and pulls strongly like a beast of a V8 should. The V8 pushes down the road and over any challenge you can throw at it, the V8 grumble is impressive. The vehicle’s road manners are what you would expect from a classic Rover. The suspension feels tight and well sorted, steering and braking perform to satisfaction, as they should. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all times. No driving abnormalities are present and its a true joy to drive.

A complete repaint with a refresh in it its original Land Rover Chamonix white with color coded steel wheels. “Monty” captures attention wherever it goes and of anyone around it. Suited for those weekend getaways or around town, its a timeless classic that is very sharp and stylish. Just complete suspension overall with new shocks and springs all round with a new fuel tank and pump. Also comes complete with an impressive service history with a 1 inch folder full of old invoices and maintenance receipts, showing it has been very well cared for and maintained by its previous enthusiastic Land Rover owners. It doesn’t run hot and recent service work includes a new radiator fitted, distributor, leads, plugs, fuel tank, fuel pump, spark plugs and coils fitted so it’s all set and ready to be driven! Overall this Land Rover is in good condition and operates exactly as it should. 1990 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90

image641

"HUNTER" DEFENDER 90 SOFT TOP

Presenting “Hunter”, a very tidy 1990 Land Rover 90 soft top with a 2.5 petrol (gas) engine with only 62k miles, finished in Land Rover Tonga Green metallic with a deep shine. This is a retired Ministry of Defense vehicle - hence the low miles and minimal use - It was released to the civilian world in 2014 and owned by Ray Hunt of R Hunt 4x4 specialist, until now. All panels are original and still show the factory spot-welds on every panel, the panel work is very straight, door tops are all solid, rear tailgate is excellent and overall this is a very straight example. The soft-top is in very good condition as well as the actual framework of the soft top. The Land Rover Freestyle alloys have been refurbished in Tungsten Silver and wrapped in BFGoodrich tires. The interior is in excellent shape for a nearly 29-year-old land rover; the seats are in good condition with all gauges, speedo, lights, wipers, horn, heater etc, all work, as they should. The engine starts instantly hot or cold and runs very smoothly and is very quiet; being a gas 2.5 engine it’s very smooth and hushed unlike its diesel brothers. It cruises lovely at 50-70 mph and the idle purrs like a kitten. Some recent service work include: new front brake discs and calipers, poly bushed suspension arms, LED reverse lights and a new carburetor. Overall, you would think this is a much newer model from its tidy appearance and unique history. Meet our 1990 “Hunter” 90.

This 90 has a very unique and distinct history - being owned most of its life by the Ministry of Defense (MOD) up until 2014, based at Porton Down MOD Science Park near Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. It is home to two British government facilities and the 7,000-acre site is one of the UK's most secretive and controversial military research facilities and the oldest chemical warfare research installations in the world. Scientists from Porton Down were among the first to create biological weapons as well as one of the world's most lethal chemical weapons, but now its main purpose is to support the military and help combat terrorism. Porton Down opened in 1916 as the War Department Experimental Station for testing chemical weapons during WWI. Scientists at the lab researched and developed weapon agents used by the British military during the war, such as chlorine, mustard gas and phosgene. After the war the government decided that work should continue at the site and by 1930 it had grown and developed into the Chemical Defense Experimental Station. During WW2 research concentrated on chemical weapons like nitrogen mustard and nerve agents such as Sarin. It then led to the development of CS (tear gas) and VX nerve agent in 1952, one of the most lethal substances ever created which results in a painful death. Luckily, we don’t think this Land Rover was used in any scientific experiments, but used for light transport around the base - hence the low mileage. Either way, the history this Land Rover encumbers is pretty cool and comes with a very interesting past.

"SAHRA" DEFENDER 110 SOFT TOP

We are very proud to offer this unique 1993 Defender 110 from a private collection from Dubai, UAE which is a perfect dry climate for a Land Rover to reside in. What caught our attention was the superb rust free condition and unique configuration of it being a 110 soft top. This 110 was previously part of a large private collection and the owner explained many of the vehicles where originally cars for the government and were used by various departments like the coast guard, ministerial, fire service and patrol type cars. Most were hardly used and where parked outside different HQ's and government buildings, so they have very little mileage and minimal use.

Overall a very original and unique Defender with it’s 110 soft-top configuration and removable half doors. It shows zero rust as it’s spent all its life in a desert climate. The previous collector has made sure it’s been presented in good usable order, as it made up part of his proud collection of vintage and unique Land Rovers. This Defender 110 soft top is powered by its factory original 2.5 petrol (gas) engine and is finished in a beige/desert exterior. The engine starts instantly hot or cold and runs very smoothly and is very quiet; being a gas engine it’s very smooth and hushed unlike its diesel brothers. It cruises lovely at 50-70 mph and the idle purrs like a kitten. The bulkhead, floors, rear cross member, chassis, and all common rust-prone areas are dry and rust-free. Underneath is in remarkable condition and looks almost brand new the day it left the factory. Recent additions included a new Exmoor Trim bikini hood, new heavy duty suspension up front and a complete engine service with new fuel pump, electronic distributer, spark plugs and oil change, she now runs like a sewing machine. Head down to your local hardware store in one of these and see how many heads you turn, as there probably won’t be another truck like it in the lot. Overall a very clean and tidy Defender, ready to be enjoyed for those sunny days.
